The New LeBrons

The New LeBrons
This year when shoe heads refer to 'the new LeBrons' they'll be speaking of LeBron's 13th Nike sneaker.  The shoe's design was inspired by LeBron's hometown, Akron, Ohio.  Lets take a brief look at the shoe and then discuss LeBron's most recent contract.

LeBron James Height and Weight
LeBron James stands 6' 8" and weighs 249 lbs.  Many compare King James to Karl Malone in regard to strength.  How do you design a shoe for a player with Malone's muscle and Allen Iverson's speed?

LeBron James' height and weight require superior design skills and Nike rises to the challenge year after year.  Nike increased the size of the airbag under the balls of LeBron's foot this year: The 12s had a 8 millimeter airbag whereas the 13s have a 13 millimeter airbag.

The pressure was on for King James and Nike considering the fact that Jordan's 13th shoe was an instant classic.  The Jordan 13s were inspired by the black panther as MJ was a predator on the court with catlike speed.  Many people remember Denzel rocking his Jordan 13s in the movie 'He Got Game'.

The design of LeBron's 13th shoe was inspired by the fact that Ohio has generated a higher number of astronauts than any other state.  This led Nike to think of the shoe in terms of NASA's efforts to conquer the moon in the '50s.

Many sneaker heads out there may recall Jason Petrie, ALPHAPROJECT's amazing designs from years ago.  The following one was clearly used for the LeBron 13s:

LeBron's Contract
After the King purchased a new home in L.A., 'LeBron James Lakers' rumors began to resurface.  Then James signed a short term contract with the Cavaliers, adding more fuel to those LeBron James Lakers rumors.

LeBron purchased his new six bedroom, eight bathroom, 10,000 square feet home in Los Angeles to produce movies after his basketball career.  The amazing home is in Brentwood, O.J. and Nicole's old neighborhood.

Many were wondering: Why doesn't LeBron James sign a longer contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers after he inked a two year extension with his beloved team.  He could have agreed to a four-year contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers worth $94.5 million guaranteed yet he decided to sign a two-year extension worth $42.1 million.

LeBron James will be a free agent in 2016, the same year the NBA's new television deal begins.  The league's TV deal could double in value which would make LeBron's value increase dramatically when he is ready to sign in 2016.
