LeBron James First Game

LeBron James First Game
LeBron James first game in the NBA was played on October 7, 2003.  LeBron signed a seven-year Nike deal worth more than $90 million before his professional debut therefore the pressure was on.  The deal was a slow pay off for Nike but then LeBron's Nike sales soared starting with the LeBron VI.

The October 7, 2003 game was a preseason game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Detroit Pistons.  The Cavaliers defeated the Pistons 100-96.  LeBron scored 8 points and had 7 assists.  Cleveland's coach, Paul Silas, had Darius Miles at point guard while LeBron played small forward.  Miles played horribly and by the third quarter LeBron took over at the point guard position.

At 18 years old, LeBron scored 25 points, dished nine dimes, grabbed six boards and snatched four steals.  LeBron James scored the most point by any prep-to-pro rookie since Kobe Bryant made the leap in 1996.

The Cavaliers were down by 19 points and James led a Cavalier comeback closing the Cavaliers' deficit to two points, 85-83, with 10:05 left in the fourth quarter.  The Kings were able to regain control with a 6-0 run and the Cavaliers could not make a game of it down the stretch.

LeBron James' game has evolved since his rookie season, and continues to do so.  As a rookie, LeBron did not have a post game.  Since then, he has trained with Hakeem Olajuwon and LeBron is now able to use his post game to destroy his opponents on a regular basis.
