Hello, My Name is David Blatt, Coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers
Coaching a King
It has to be difficult to coach a King. How can you teach a player that has already accomplished it all without you? For Phil Jackson and Michael Jordan, the mountain was climbed hand-by-hand from the 1st Championship to the 6th therefore respect was never an issue. The opposite is true for Cleveland Cavalier's Coach David Blatt and 2-time NBA Champion LeBron James. James is often called the coach of the team by the media and every interaction between the two is heavily scrutinized.
Coach David Michael Blatt
Coach Blatt grew up in Massachusetts and attended Princeton University. He played point guard for Princeton and was the team's captain. He is currently 56 and he coached in Europe prior to being hired by the Cavaliers. Coach Blatt received a three-year deal worth nearly $10 million with a fourth-year option that includes incentives.
Keep on Pushing
Coach Blatt will most likely see the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, a team that attempted to hire him as an assistant prior to the Cavalier's offer. The Cavaliers made him the first European coach to transition to the NBA as a head coach. LeBron James is determined to make Coach Blatt the first European coach to make the jump to the NBA as a head coach and win a NBA Championship in his first season. One thing is for sure, we will be watching the duo's every interaction, or lack thereof.
