Automatic Clutch and The Future Impact of Too Many Minutes
Numb
Remember when we used to wonder if LeBron was nervous when
he took 4th quarter shots? On Tuesday, December 9, 2014, with just under 1
minute left in the game, the Cavs and Raptors were tied at 99. LeBron catches the ball at the top of the key
(he looked somewhat surprise) and knocks down a three despite two defenders
running towards him. After two
championships, clutch shots are no longer a big deal for LeBron. Deep threes in
the 4th quarter of December 4’s Knicks game, along with solid defense on Melo
also shows that LBJ is on another level.
Nerves? Bron is strictly business at this point, no time to feel. All
the chatter about whether LeBron will ever win a championship has stopped and
the purest form of his greatness can now be seen regardless of how much time is
left in the game.
Time After Time
The bad news about the Raptors game is that LeBron played
40+ minutes. This was no big deal in
Miami, where Bosh and Wade allowed him to take possessions off. After the Raptors game, LBJ complained that
his left knee felt sore. Back in
Cleveland, LeBron must use every dose of his energy on every possession to keep
the Cavs afloat. James is averaging
about 38 minutes per game, the second highest in the league. Kobe shows that averaging a high amount of
minutes can catch up with you.
The Shoes
In other LeBron news, Charles Jennings of Memphis, TN was
charged with theft after he stole over $1 million worth of Nike LeBron 12s. Jennings stole a trailer with about 7,000
pairs of LeBrons. He used his own I.D.
card to transport the cargo. Upon
recovery, about 700 pairs of the shoes were missing. I can hear the LBJ haters/MJ fans argue that
MJ made people kill each other over his shoes and all people are willing to do
is steal/sell LeBron’s! Nonetheless, the
major impact that footwear has on the game never fails to amaze.
